LaKeshia M Alston, attended Winston-Salem State University for Political Science with a minor in Psychology. Grand Canyon University for Secondary Education, Aveda Chapel Hill for Esthetics. Wake Technical Community college for Accounting Business Finance.

Worked as a Durham Public School Employee for eleven years, climbing the latter from substituting, interventionist, teachers assistant, classroom teacher. In 2022, working as a retired teacher in the aesthetics industry, she noticed the deficits, that needed to be met with former students, pathway opportunity for education, housing needs, tax needs, acknowledging birthright citizenship needs. Realizing the slow growth of narcotic epidemic that is trying to creep its way as reason for homelessness in the city of Durham. Becoming some to all that she may win some for what is owed to the residents of Durham, NC.

She began to get involved with City Council, networking with the Representatives within The General Assembly. Studying in the Grand Library located therein. Figuring out the margins of what it will take, under her leadership as Senator, for the City of Durham, North Carolina to live up to the true meaning of all its nicknames.
